Youth Volunteer Program
Youth volunteers are high school students age 15-17 years old interested in volunteering either for school credit or to gain valuable work experience. Because of the popularity of our youth volunteer program, we accept youth volunteers for one of three semesters: fall, spring, or summer. Fall and spring volunteers are expected to volunteer one day a week after school. Summer volunteers are expected to volunteer up to three days a week. Volunteers are also required to attend an orientation in late June. They must also be available for the six week program in July-August.
To be considered for a youth volunteer position at APEC, candidates must complete the application below and return it to the volunteer coordinator before the listed application deadlines. Youth volunteers are also expected to attend a scheduled interview and orientation.

Adult Volunteer Program
An adult volunteer is a volunteer 18 years old or older interested in gaining volunteer experience, but does not need it to complete a college level course requirement.
To be considered for an adult volunteer position at APEC, candidates must complete the application below and attend a scheduled one-on-one interview with the volunteer coordinator. While we are flexible with our volunteer schedule, we prefer candidates who can commit to a particular day of the week and who can commit no less than 30 hours to APEC in a year

College Internships
APEC accepts undergraduate and graduate students who are required by their college or university to complete an internship project at an outside organization. We accept college interns on a case-by-case basis for fall, winter, spring, and summer sessions. Our interns have been a vital component of our education and animal care departments for many years, and we have many exciting opportunities for interns to complete projects and gain work experience.
To be considered for an internship with APEC, please complete the application below and return it to the volunteer coordinator along with a copy of your resume and a 500-word statement of purpose detailing your internship requirements and goals, the type of work you hope to do as an APEC intern, and what you hope to get out of the internship.
Please know before you apply that our internship program at this time is unpaid, and that APEC is not a scientific research facility.
