Our homeschool workshops are changing in 2023!
We are pausing our homeschool workshops for the Spring and Summer while we develop new and immersive lessons and prepare to move to our new sustainable building.
Our lessons, designed by APEC educators to supplement and enhance your homeschool environmental education curricula, will include age appropriate hands-on activities with a focus on outdoor learning. Our Fall 2023 workshop series will take place at our new location in Douglaston, NY. Classes are limited to 10 participants.
Dates: Mondays, October – December (dates to be announced)
Time: 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm (90 minutes – longer sessions)
Fee: $220 per participant
OVERVIEW – FALL 2023 SESSION
Lil Explorers: K - 1st grade
Explore the wonders of nature learning about plant and animal life cycles, habitats and more through stories, outdoor exploration, games, and animal time.
Salt Marsh Ecology: 2nd – 4th grade
Future marine biologists will learn all about salt marshes over the course of 10 weeks. They will learn about where they are found, where the salt comes from, what animals and plants live there and their survival adaptations, why they are important to migrating birds and what makes the tides rise and fall.
Green Guardians: 5th – 6th grade
Using nature as a teaching tool, students will delve into our local estuary ecosystem and assess the diversity of the wetlands through experiments, scientific methods, and field investigations.
