Exploring Endangered Species
Tuesday, April 23rd | 9:30 am - 11:30 am
Many animals are on the IUCN Red List of Endangered Animals. Learn about the factors contributing to the decline of wild animals. Students will empower themselves to make green choices which can help wildlife and wild places around the world! Program includes interactions with live animals and an enjoyable outdoor nature walk! Each participant will take home a reusable APEC water bottle and reusable bag! Space is limited.

On the Brink of Extinction
Tuesday, April 23rd | 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Around the world, many plants and animals are on the brink of extinction. Learn about the human impact affecting many creatures and find out what experts in the scientific community are doing to save endangered animals. Program includes interactions with live animals and an enjoyable outdoor nature walk! Each participant will take home a reusable APEC water bottle and reusable bag! Space is limited.

Finding Out About the Forest
Wednesday, April 24th | 9:30 am - 11:30 am
Curious about forest-dwelling animals? Join us as we explore the forest, studying the different layers of this special habitat and the critters living there. Children will also make a tree cookie necklace, meet live animals, and enjoy a nature walk along APEC’s forest trail. Each participant will take home a reusable APEC water bottle and reusable bag! How Do You Know if a Forest is Healthy?
Wednesday, April 24th | 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Forests are beautiful places to explore and relax, but how do you know if it is a “healthy” forest? Learn about characteristics used to assess a forest’s health and find out about forest invaders which threaten this treasured ecosystem. Program includes interactions with live animals and an enjoyable outdoor nature walk! Each participant will take home a reusable APEC water bottle and reusable bag! Space is limited.

Forest Friends
Thursday, April 25th | 10:30 am - 11:45 am
Introduce your little one to the wonderful forests which surround us! Share a book about this special place, meet three animals with relatives living in the forest, and take a stroll through APEC’s trails. Each child will take home a science book about the forest. Space is limited.

Planting a Rainbow at APEC!
Thursday, April 25th | 10:15 am - 11:45 am
Help us beautify APEC by planting an assortment of flowers in pots outside the early childhood classroom! Students will also be presented a mini-lesson about the life cycle of plants, learn how to classify different plants based on their leaf formation, and enjoy a nature walk to the Salt Marsh. Each participant will take home a set of gardening gloves, trowel, and pack of flower seeds to bring their gardening skills to their neighborhood! Space is limited.

Nature Nick's Animal Adventures

Get ready for a wild adventure with “Nature Nick’s Animal Adventure!” You and your child will enjoy an unforgettable experience observing some of the world’s most fascinating and rare creatures. Space is limited.

Critter Encounters and Story Walk
Friday, April 26th | 10:30 am - 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Calling all Animal Lovers! Join us at APEC to enjoy up-close encounters with several of APEC’s Animal Ambassadors. Then enjoy a story walk, sharing A Log’s Life by Wendy Pfeffer while enjoying the trails. Each participant will receive a copy of the book to read again at home. Space is limited.

The environmental center is located in Alley Pond Park, surrounded by lush nature trails where visitors can enjoy NYC's natural landscapes.
